The mobile operator Vodafone Ukraine has launched a 4G LTE900 network in the Vinnytsia region, providing high-speed internet to 126 more small settlements in which nearly 124 thousand people live. Thus, today the Vodafone 4G network in the 900 MHz range is already operating in more than 1,500 settlements and covers over a million people living in Khmelnytsky, Transcarpathian, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Ternopil, Rivne, Volyn, Chernivtsi regions.
Earlier in the settlements, where the LTE 900 MHz network has now been built, the user speed in EDGE did not exceed the 0.5 Mbit / s mark, which did not allow full use of modern online services. After the launch of LTE 900 MHz, the speed increased to 48 Mbit / s, which, according to the operator, opens up new opportunities for online education, medicine, leisure, and also stimulates the development of entrepreneurship and the economy as a whole.
Until the end of 2020, the LTE 900 MHz network will be launched in all regions of Ukraine: alternately from west to east. According to the licensing conditions, by mid-2022, mobile high-speed Internet coverage should be provided in settlements with a population of more than 2,000 people, covering 90% of the population of Ukraine, as well as coverage of roads of international and national importance until mid-2024.
Vodafone is also working to expand network capacity in areas with heavy Internet traffic. In general, during quarantine, Vodafone expanded the network capacity in the Transcarpathian region, Odessa and Odessa region, in the Dnieper and Dnipropetrovsk region, Zhytomyr region, Kherson, Kharkov, Chernivtsi regions, Poltava, Volyn regions, in the city of Uman, Cherkasy region, in Kiev, Sumy, Chernigov, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zaporozhye and Kropyvnytskyi.
