The cellular operator Kyivstar announced the next expansion of its 4G communication network. It is noted that recently the operator has included 266 new 4G base stations. Thanks to the construction of new base stations, communication has improved in 1260 settlements in 18 regions of Ukraine.

It is noted that high-speed mobile Internet from the Kyivstar operator appeared in 1260 remote settlements, where 632 thousand people live. In particular, the coverage of the 4G network in the Zhytomyr region increased by 382 settlements, in Khmelnytsky – by 245, in Vinnitsa – by 236, Lvov – by 170, in Chernigov – by 51.

As the operator specifies, the settlements where 4G communication appeared are in the countryside. The increase in the 4G coverage area has become possible as a result of the use of frequencies in the 900 MHz range, which allows mobile operators to quickly cover sparsely populated areas. To this end, in June 2020, mobile operators began to exchange radio frequencies (refarming) in the 900 MHz range.

Kyivstar also continues to increase its 4G coverage at the expense of other bands – 1800 MHz and 2600 MHz. Since the beginning of 2020, the operator has connected almost 6 thousand settlements to high-speed mobile Internet using LTE technology. The company plans to provide access to 4G for 90% of the Ukrainian population in two years.
