72 years old. So high is the average life expectancy in Russia. Well, this is not the worst indicator compared to the Central African Republic, where the population is only up to 45 years old. However, if you do not consider the low life expectancy in poor African countries, the question is: Can a person born under more or less comfortable conditions lead a healthy lifestyle and not suffer from excessive physical labor for up to 150 years to become old?

How old is the oldest person on the planet?

Frenchwoman Jeanne Kalman, who died in 1997 at the age of 122, became the world record for life expectancy. The last 12 years of her life were spent by the long-lived woman in the nursing home in Arles, where she died after becoming famous all over the world. Although Zhanna Kalman did not lead a healthy lifestyle for 97 years and smoked 2 cigarettes daily, she was the one who set a similar record and literally survived all her competitors claiming to be the oldest person in the world.

Zhanna Kalman – the oldest inhabitant of the planet

Despite the fact that according to the Guinness Book of Records, the woman is officially recognized as the world's oldest resident, it is likely that 127-year-old Kabardino-Balkarian grandmother Nanu Shaova, who is still alive, has long held this honorary title ,

The fact is, the birth date of Nanu Shaova, which is shown in black and white in the passport, is 00.00.1890. The age of the elderly woman was last given in the Far 1960 at the census. Then, to find out at least the year of her birth, I had to question Nanu's neighbors and relatives, as the woman herself did not remember her age.

How many years before lived?

Looking at the average life expectancy statistics on the planet, there is a very interesting trend: from year to year, people's lives are on the increase. This phenomenon is associated with an increase in the level of medicine, education and culture. At the age of 30, primitive people were considered to be deep old people, the ancient Greeks and Romans were able to retire at the age of 29, and the inhabitants of medieval towns were considered older at the age of 33. This sad statistic continued until the 19th century, when, in the context of the development of technology and complex sciences, the average life expectancy of a person began to increase. In this crucial moment for humanity, average life expectancy in European countries has almost doubled, from 34 to 65 years.

Can a person live up to 150 years?

According to biologists and geneticists, increasing life expectancy for people up to 150 years is not only impossible but very likely. Siegfried Hekimi, a professor of biology at McGill University, estimates that some of those born in the 21st century will reach the age of 150 without much effort. In his study, Hekimi ranked the achievements of the last century in terms of vaccination, food safety, hygiene, general stress reduction and hard physical work with successes that have a huge impact on the number of years a person has lived.

That's interesting: Do I have to get vaccinated?

According to Professor Hekimi, the reasons why earlier generations of people could not reach such a venerable age are hardly related to genetic traits. Modern centenarians, including those mentioned above, Jeanne Kalman, could not survive until the age of 150, as all modern comfort levels could only partially affect these people.

People of the 21st century can live up to 150 years

Life at the beginning of the twentieth century is very different from 21st century life and is most often characterized by severe and lengthy wars, a lot of stress and, in some cases, mundane malnutrition.

If so, then the modern generation has a good opportunity to live a little longer than the time allocated to it. And if scientists had the opportunity to protect their youth, it might be more interesting to live the given 150 years. However, this is a completely different story.
