American entrepreneur Ilon Musk founded SpaceX in 2002 with the goal of exploring space and colonizing Mars. However, no colonizers have appeared on the Red Planet for nearly 18 years of existence. In addition, SpaceX cannot yet shine with the successful delivery of astronauts on board the International Space Station, as it was only able to deliver one unmanned spacecraft to the ISS in 2019. But everything will change in 2020, according to Elon Musk. As part of the SpaceX Demo-2 space mission, the company will finally complete a manned flight to the ISS. From that moment on, the United States no longer has to launch its Soyuz launch vehicles on its astronauts.

The American edition of Business Insider announced how the first manned flight of the spacecraft Crew Dragon to the ISS will take place. Regarding the video released on SpaceX's YouTube channel, journalists said that astronauts Bob Benken and Doug Hurley will be the first passengers on the ship. The video shows how two pilots board the Crew Dragon at Cape Canaveral in Florida and fly a Falcon 9 rocket to a height of 400 kilometers, on which the International Space Station is located.

The first flight of people on the Crew Dragon ship

Judging by Ilona Mask's messages on Twitter, the upcoming event is very inspiring. The first flight of the spacecraft Crew Dragon to the International Space Station and its successful docking took place in March 2019 as part of the space mission Demo-1. At that point, it became clear to everyone that SpaceX would be able to independently deliver American astronauts to the station without Russia's support.

The former President-in-Office of the President, Sergei Tsyplyaev, has already described Ilon Mask as a major threat to the Russian economy. If Russia used to carry out up to 50% of commercial missile launches, we will only risk 20-25% of the orders in the future. Thanks to the relatively cheap and reusable rockets, SpaceX will ultimately be able to leave Russia with only 10% of orders, which will undoubtedly affect the country's economy.

Spaceship CST-100 Starliner

It should be remembered that the "Crew Dragon Demo-2" mission is carried out as part of the NASA "Commercial Crew Program". Its goal is to resume deliveries of goods and passengers to the International Space Station using American missiles from local space centers. Boeing also takes part in this program with its spaceship CST-100 Starliner. His test flight to the space station took place at the end of 2019, but he could not dock with it.

Given the technical problems of the Boeing Corporation, SpaceX Crew Dragon is expected to be the first American ship to deliver astronauts to the International Space Station in the past decade. Unfortunately, the date of Demo-2's manned mission is still a mystery. However, it is known that SpaceX will test the ship's launch system in early January.
