In September 2019, the legendary German car maker Porsche introduced the world's first electric sports car, the Taycan. Journalists and bloggers immediately called him the strongest competitor of Tesla cars, stating their opinion that the German company has much more experience and money to make good cars. We disagreed with the majority opinion and mentioned in a special material about Porsche Taycan that the company, no matter how much money it had, did not have the main thing – experience in producing electric cars that Tesla has accumulated over the roof over the years would have. It seems we were right, because the Tesla Model S recently drove the famous Nürburgring circuit faster than the Porsche Taycan.
The Nürburgring race track is located in Germany near the village of Nürburg. It was built in 1927 and is currently the venue for circuit races such as DTM and GP2. The lap length with 15 corners is more than 5 kilometers – for drivers and their cars this is a serious test that requires maximum concentration. Not only do you have to reach the highest speed, but you also have to fit in sharp turns.
Tesla Model S or Porsche Taycan – who is stronger?
Recently, a journalist from Auto Motor appeared on this route and became an observer of a very interesting sight. He experienced the arrival of the electric car Tesla Model S with the model number P100D +. Currently, such a car is not for sale. This means that it is a prototype of a modification with improved properties that is being prepared for release in 2020.
It is expected that the Tesla Model S P100D + will receive a "plaid" power plant with three engines delivering more than 772 hp. In the future, the same installation will be part of the improved versions of the Tesla Model X and the Tesla Roadster super sports car. The company does not plan to improve the three Tesla 3 and Y engines.

Tesla Model S vs Porsche Taycan Speed Comparison
In addition to all this, the prototype of the upgraded Tesla Model S has been upgraded with extended wheel arches, modified body panels that have been retuned for quick suspension, and a spoiler. Thanks to all this, the Tesla Model S covered a distance of 5 km over the Nürburgring in 7 minutes and 23 seconds. The Porsche Taycan car overcame the same distance in 7 minutes and 42 seconds. As it turns out, the Tesla car was always faster than the much acclaimed new product from Taycan – and that in just 19 seconds?
Most likely yes, but it's worth taking into account that this is unofficial data. The calculation of the time the Tesla car was driven was done by an Auto Motor employee rather than a team of experts. Therefore, the journalist could make mistakes in the calculations, for example by pressing the stopwatch button later than necessary. In addition, a modified Tesla Model S prototype participated in the race – we will not find out how fast the final version will turn out until 2020.
Finally, I want to know which side you are on – Tesla or Porsche? Take the survey and write your opinion on cars in our telegram chat. Do not forget that many companies presented the "competitors" of the Tesla electric cars at the Frankfurt Motor Show. I strongly recommend to look at them.
