The most dangerous false scientists: Instagram doctors, pseudo-historians and other obscurantists

Spread the love

If you think that only ladies with full lips and other striking body parts sit on Instagram, I hurry to disappoint you. Today, Instagram is one of the most successful platforms for business development. And everybody. And since you can make money online by posting photos, you should take advantage of gullible Russians. That's probably what ladies and gentlemen, who call themselves doctors but have no medical education, have decided throughout the country today. And outside of the colorful images of pseudo-doctors you can find false scientists who falsify the story. Horror and only, but warned – means armed.

The pseudoscience blooms in Russia. This is confirmed by numerous Instagram doctors.

Age of Obscurantism

It is difficult to say at what point in time the number of different charlatans in Russia has crossed all conceivable and unimaginable borders, but the fact remains that today our country is experiencing a veritable boom of pseudosciences. And I'm not exaggerating. What only a hypnotist dog is worth, whose supernatural abilities have recently been shown in all seriousness to the viewers of the first channel. About such flagships of Russian TV as TNT with their endless stream of psychics of all kinds, until REN-TV, to mention it, unfortunately does not even have anything to say.

The Spitz hypnotist has eclipsed all participants of the TV show with a look

And everything would be fine, as they say – they laughed and forgot, if not one – pseudoscience is dangerous. Clairvoyants who treat cancer by laying on of hands, of dubious origin, experts who say that HIV does not exist, shamans who expel ghosts and other charlatans for money threaten the lives of those who believe them. And almost everyone can believe how uncomfortable it would be to realize it – we've already told you about the many cognitive distortions – the errors of reason inherent in man. But how can one fend off this dominance of obscurantism?

How did a sad reptilian appear?

Scientists, publicists and journalists lead this unequal fight. Among them are bioinformatician Mikhail Gelfand, anthropologist Stanislav Drobyshevsky, biologist Alexander Panchin, toxicologist Alexei Vodovozov, popular scientist Alexander Sokolov, blogger Mikhail Lidin and many others. In addition to the numerous educational projects in our country, one of the most striking and important steps against the pseudosciences in Russia has been the prize "Honorary Graduate VRAL" (VRunic Academy of Pseudoscience), which has been awarded since 2016. The winners of the prize by audience voting are the persons who made the biggest contribution to the development of pseudoscience in Russia. The award was launched with the support of the Dmitry Zimin Evolution Foundation and the science and education portal, whose editor-in-chief is Alexander Sokolov.

Nowhere without reptiles!

The proud owners of the sad reptilian figure have been for three years: the homeopath Oleg Epshtein (2018), deputy director-general of REN TV Igor Prokopenko (2017) and main activist of the Russian anti-GMO movement Irina Ermakova (2016). This year, the sad reptilian will be awarded on October 19th. But the three finalists are known today. Let's get to know these outstanding people.

Instagram doctor will heal you to death

Meeting – therapist, part-time endocrinologist, nutritionist, cardiologist and nutritionist Natalya Zubareva. Incidentally, my favorite is this year's ARRAL Award. More than two and a half million people have signed up for Instagram on Instagram. Zubarev logged in, not just a small audience. Not long ago, the Russia 24 television channel released a research movie called "Healing Like" on numerous Instagram physicians, including Dr. Ing. Zubareva. After the release of the film, Natalya temporarily closed her profile on Instagram. Unfortunately, subscribers did not decline.

On the photo Natalya Zubareva

But what is Dr. Zubareva blamed for winning the VRAL 2019 Award? The founder of Academy @zubareva_online tirelessly writes books that are sold in large quantities and informs his subscribers that the intestines, alleged leaks, toothpaste and deodorants are poisonous and thyroid disease caused by problems with the chakra. Zubareva's effective supplements, which can be bought with Natalia's promo code at iHerb, help get rid of all the discomforts. Dr. By the way, Zubareva's diet is after a hair analysis. Yes, seriously and with an innocent face.

What other pseudo-science leaders do you know? Tell the participants about it in our telegram chat.

I find that Natalya Zubareva is the only popular Instagram healer with a medical background. At the same time, it is a mystery what exactly the doctor did during her studies. Instead of anatomy, Natalya has apparently dealt with esotericism and the location of the chakras in the human body.

A blogger without medical education who deals with cancer

The finalist of the VRAL 2019 Awards is rightly becoming an Instagram healer under the name Katya Thi. The number of subscribers of Ekaterina Filatova (real name of the blogger) is more than 400,000 people. Of course that's not two and a half million, but many too. This instigator lives in London and calls on the Russians to refuse vaccinations and to rely solely on alternative medicine.

Blogger Ekaterina Filatova

However, it is really scary that Catherine denies the appointment of doctors, urges infectious patients to refuse antibiotics, and refuses chemotherapy to cancer patients. Instead of real medications, the blogger prescribes homeopathy, iHerb supplements, vitamin C intake and coffee enemas. Unlike Dr. Zubareva has never closed Katerina's Instagram page so you can personally see how she was really murderously treated. Incidentally, Catherine is not a doctor by profession, but a designer. In general, a scary person.

That's interesting: Do I have to get vaccinated?

Who says the Anglo-Saxons are to blame?

Did you learn history badly at school and at college? Do not worry, the well-known Nikolai Starikov will inform you about the most important things. The writer, publicist and publicist has long pursued his pseudoscientific activities, for which he was honored to be a finalist of VRAL 2019. Nikolai wrote without proper education 10 books on history, economics and politics. By the way, you probably have the phrase "the Anglo-Saxons are responsible for everything" (residents of the US and UK). Now you know who to thank for this sentence.

This is what pseudo-historian Nikolai Starikov looks like

Nikolai Starikov does not hide his love for numerous conspiracy theories. According to the author, the "Anglo-Saxons" have triggered all the wars on the planet with a single goal – to destroy Russia. Yes, according to Nikolai even Hitler came to power with the permission of the secret government. The fuel for the fire is added by the fact that 163,000 people have subscribed to Starikov's YouTube channel. So conspiracy theories arise – up to 19 books of pure pseudoscience, how could it be otherwise?

In summary, I can say that all the pseudoscience figures mentioned, as well as many that are not described in this article, often threaten the founders of the prize and the scientists who reveal their professional activities. The only weapon against obscurantism is scientific knowledge and enlightenment. The more people know about the activities of Instagram doctors, pseudo-historians, and other obscurantists, the healthier our society becomes. Do you agree
