According to the latest findings, our planet could be a life giver in the galaxy. Life can spread in many ways, and the earth, as you know, is not deprived. Scientists believe that our planet is the main supplier of life in the Milky Way. Is This Possible? New evidence discussed in this article indirectly confirms this theory.

Panspermia hypothesis

Throughout its history, a large number of comets have fallen on our planet. Millions of years ago, one or more comets could carry a large number of organic compounds. Due to the fall to the bottom of the ocean, these chemical compounds interact with water, and this, as we know, is the key to the emergence of life.

Scientists have long known a hypothesis called panspermia. According to this hypothesis, celestial bodies located at a small distance from each other can exchange materials and microorganisms. This is due to the fall of asteroids and comets to Earth. The effects during a fall can be so strong that dirt particles with earth microorganisms fall on them. Panspermia is based on the assumption of scientists that some microorganisms can survive under conditions of cosmic motion.

How stars and comets are connected

The sun does not stop. In the last 4.6 billion years, the celestial body has approached many other stars nearby. Presumably on the edge of the stars is the so-called Oort Cloud – a comet camp. Thus, the convergence of sun and other stars can change the trajectory of comets and direct them to passing star systems.

Note that the existence of the Oort Cloud is not confirmed by instrumental means. In addition, many indirect facts point to its existence. Not too long ago, one of the participants in our telegram chat spoke very rationally on this topic.

The fall of comets into the oceans of the earth and across continents has enabled life to move around the planet. And according to the theory of panspermia on comets or their debris (which originated in a collision) to travel through space into other worlds. This opinion is shared by study author Robert Zubrin, president of Pioneer Astronautics in Colorado, USA.

For 3.5 billion years Earth could be the main supplier of life in the galaxy. Zubrin came to a similar conclusion based on calculations that take into account many factors, such as the average star density near the sun and the composition of the stars in our galaxy.

The exact number of comets in the Oort cloud is unknown. However, the study suggested a trillion. Zubrin used all the information to calculate how many stars collide and understand their consequences.

Comets – the cause of life and mass extinction

Calculations showed that there are about 47 star collisions per billion years near our home star. And the earth appeared, as you know, 4.6 billion years ago. In this way, there are clashes every 21 million years.

We can only note that this coincides with periods of mass mortality of life on Earth. Today, scientists believe that comet rain 66 million years ago caused the extinction of dinosaurs and is also responsible for the former mass extinction.

The sun is more massive than 90% of the stars of the Milky Way. This means that the Oortenwolke next to it is larger than next to other stars. So our sun can be the main supplier of life in star collisions and send three times as many comets to other solar systems.
